There are definitely some larger companies out there, but they are two very good reasons why using local help is much better.

1. If solar declines or their company goes out of business, you have no recourse. With us, we partner with certified roofers and local electricians that have been in business for decades. They are beholden to the community and an integral part of our area.

2. If one person does something in a larger company, the entire company can claim credit. Even someone who was hired by the company yesterday. At Paladin, you’ll deal with the owners who have lots of experience and who will be managing your project from beginning to end.

Process

Paladin’s first step is a free home assessment. We’ll review your physical conditions such as roof condition, shading, sun exposure and ask a few other questions. We’ll most likely take some readings and measurements that will allow us to get a good idea of panel placement as well as predict production you will likely see from your system.

After assessing your needs, we’ll come back with a proposal. If everything looks good, we’ll send you a contract for signature and start working on your application to get the solar system registered. We’ll also be doing the electrical and structural engineering for the permit applications while we help you through the financing and potential incentives. Then we’ll add the panels, conduit runs for your wires and connect to your house and grid. The utility will need to send someone to put in a net meter (runs forwards and back) if you do not have one already. After final inspections we’re ready to turn it on and get started! It can take a 2-4 months for the entire process depending on government agencies, weather, and unforeseen conditions.

Cost

Because we also operate as large commercial contractors, we have access to the best product at the lowest price. We have very little overhead and pass the savings on to you. We’re personally involved in each project and ensure that everything goes smoothly.

Products

We’re fairly agnostic when it comes to equipment. Most panel manufacturers produce a good product with long warranties and rarely have any failures. That said we have worked with many brands and countries of origin. We offer long warranties, monitoring and built-in safety mechanisms.

Financing

There are four main advantages to solar: incentives, Federal tax credit, SRECs, and electrical savings. In order to get those benefits, normally a loan of up to 20 years is taken out in order to buy the system. The loan can be paid back at any time and can be reset after receiving some of your incentives and tax credits. We will review all of this with you until you have a clear understanding of your options. Normally, families are able to save between $1,000 and $2,500 per year.
